Today I've been feeling a little uncomfortable as many people are putting up posts celebrating the Anzac spirit which I love and am all for however what's making me feel uneasy is that many of these very same people have attacked and disowned their friends and family for standing up for freedom to do what they believe is best for their family.
They have watched these people lose their jobs, face financial ruin, be segregated from society and treated like they are lesser human beings.
but today you post celebrating the Anzacs.
Stop being so bloody patronizing, if you have sat back and watched this happen to your fellow brothers and sisters you don't have the Anzac spirit as these brave men and women sacrificed their life's for freedom, that's how important it was to them.
They landed on this beach many dead before they even hit the water.
They knew their chances of victory let alone survival were slim but they marched on.
So please spare us with your posts showing how much you care and actually start bloody doing something when you see injustice.
Let's say it for what it really easy, you're a coward unless it personally affects you.
You couldn't give a shit if families are sleeping in their cars, you couldn't give a shit that suicide is at an all time high as people have lost hope, you couldn't give a shit that people are refused entry to all the things you take for granted because you actually enjoy the segregation, you think well they should have just done what they were told, they should surrendered their freedom for the greater good.
That's what you believe, but the greater good is only achieved when people listen to their hearts, when society punishes those who choose freedom, then that society has lost its soul.
This is the very thing the Anzacs were trying to prevent. They did everything they could to prevent this darkness from reaching out shores, but unfortunately it is here.
You'll put a banner up saying you stand for foreign countries but watch your neighbors, old friends and family suffer as let's be honest your love comfort more than freedom.
So please stop pissing on the Anzac spirit and maybe this post triggers you to get out and actually make a difference in your community help people when you can no matter who they are or what their choices or beliefs are.
That's the Anzac spirit, being there for each other because it's the right thing to do.
That's what they died for and that's the spirit that lives on, it will prevail again.
