Holistic Health - Dr Diet

We have all heard the old saying you are what you eat

This quote has been traced back to Anthelme Brillat-Savarin, in 1826, in his book The Physiology of Taste. He wrote, “Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are.”

This photo looks like a happy chappy and whilst I was in this photo alcohol was a major part of my life from 16 till my late 20's

Here is when I lived in Jindabyne and was working for Perisher Blue.

I worked as what was called a concourse attendant which meant that we helped people get their trolleys on and off the ski tube, picked stuff off the track that people had dropped and made sure no one was over the yellow line, plus once we had to evacuate the building when smoke poured through the tunnel in a fault.

Whilst I was hear I snowboarded a lot, A lot of the time alone I had my earphones in,my camel pack on my back, helmet on and I would just cruise most opportunities I had even in lunch breaks I would go out for half an hour and we also had split shifts which we had 4 hours to go for a ride.

I loved it and snowboarding is something I miss a lot.

However there were many parties down the snow and they were epic, this one was called the pub to pub. You literally hired cross country ski's and went from pub to pub it was actually a riot and not sure how its even legal in our nanny state of a country.

Because of the nightlife there were so many days that I didn't go for a ride, split shifts were I would have a nap rather than getting on the slopes.

The thing that I loved most and made me feel free was taken because I decided drinking which also led to eating shit food was priority.

Because I didn't value or understand how what you ate or drank affected your body I caused a lot of damage to my body in that season and not the good type of damage of falling off a rail, stacking it off a kicker or half pipe.

The more long term damage of severely impacting the quality of my immune system and internal organs.

If I had my time again and could chat to myself about what I was creating, I would have told myself Good food is not to expensive, it correlates with your self worth.

Whilst it took me 15 odd years of destroying my body before it told me enough is enough i am now half way into that 15 years of repairing my body, its cost me large quantities of money, its been scary, its been brutally tough, its been lonely.

It however has made me who I am so I cant dwell on what I should have done. The reference point of how I feel on a mental, physical, emotional and spiritual level when I am conscious of everything i eat or drink is clear as day.

Now I choose to eat only Biodynamic, Organic or homegrown food for 90% of my life and I know every dollar I invest into this is well bloody worth it.

It's all a choice you to have the power to change your story any time you choose.
